Flora Rose Houldsworth is an interdisciplinary designer working at the intersection of biofabrication, craft, and material innovation. Growing up between Tanzania and the Highlands of Scotland gave her an early and enduring connection to the natural world - one that now sits at the heart of everything she makes.

After graduating in Visual Communications from Leeds Arts University, Flora moved to Amsterdam to study at Fabricademy, hosted at Waag TextileLab - a course that opened an entirely new world of design and showed her how nature and technology can work hand in hand. Her practice is rooted in the closed-loop systems found in nature: nothing wasted, everything returned. Drawing on indigenous traditions that view humans as part of the ecosystem rather than separate from it, she works with biological and waste-stream materials - transforming overlooked matter into durable, considered objects for fashion and interiors.

Through biofabrication, Flora has found both a creative language and a practical one: a way to imagine a more-than-human world, and to build real, beautiful things within it.
